International Student Bursary Support

The Local Organising Committee is pleased to offer limited International Student Bursary Support to assist international students to travel to XRM 2014.  The offers are made to defray costs of travelling to Melbourne and is only open to those with airfares in excess of AUD$1000. The bursary in part has been provided by the generous sacrifice of invited speakers, who receive significantly less financial support than that provided by the bursary.

To be eligible you must:

1) Be an international student
2) Submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation at XRM 2014
3) Note your participation as a student when completing the abstract submission and your intention to be considered for a bursary and/or poster award
4) Submit a short (less than 1 page) letter outlining the reasons why you should be considered for the bursary.  Within the letter please including the title of your abstract, your name and student number, your supervisor’s name and name of your host institution
5) Your academic supervisor should send a short letter of support confirming your status as a student and recommending your attendance at XRM 2014
6) All three components (abstract and 2 letters) must be submitted to be eligible for consideration.

Applications have now closed.

The student bursaries will be assessed by a panel appointed by the Local Organising Committee and selection will be based on:

1) the scientific quality of the abstract
2) the case outlined in the student’s letter of request and
3) the supervisor’s recommendation

In the case of oversubscription, preference may be given to students from disadvantaged nations or with significant travel costs.

The bursary covers registration fees for the conference and a contribution towards travel/accommodation expenses.

Students must register by 31 July 2014 to undertake acceptance of the offer.  A copy of the airline invoice must be received by 30 September 2014 and payment of any monetary contribution will take place during the Conference.
